The Therian Temple solemnly and sincerely extends our regards, respect, support and sympathy for the victims and their loved ones devastated by the tragic gun violence at the Fort Hood United States Army post located
outside of Killeen, Texas. As an organization which includes members of several brances of the US Armed Forces as well as relatives and loved ones thereof, we too have been deeply affected by the loss caused by the
cold-blooded violence that took place on November 5, 2009. Our hearts go out to all of the US Military family, both Therian and non-Therian, both soldier and civilian.
As an organization which identifies closely with Animals and Nature, we consider any unnecessary killing (i.e. without just cause such as self-defense or survival) an affront to the Laws of Nature. We also are saddened by the use of terms like “Lone-Wolf” to describe such ideology-motivated terroristic violence, as we understand very well that actual Wolves (and other species), in Nature, never attack without a survival-based reason: either hunger or self-defense. Only the “advanced” human mind could concoct a sick plan to murder in cold-blood, along with any so-called “justification” of such heinous acts.
A sad event such as this reminds us not only of the dangers of extremism, but also of the importance of unity in the face of tragedy. We only have each other to hold while we grieve for the fallen. We only have each other
to work together with as we try to move on from this loss. This week, we are all American soldiers: we feel the loss of fallen comrades, and yet, we must still stand strong and united against those who would brazenly murder us
and all those who valiantly protect our freedoms. We must always place the mission first, never accept defeat, never quit, and never leave a fallen comrade.
The “mission” we all share is to help create a world where we all can live in peace, and acceptance of defeat in such a mission could only leave a charred and barren Earth, devoid of all life.
Although we have members and supporters in many countries around the world, The Therian Temple was founded and is based in the USA, where we have complete Freedom of Religion.
Without this freedom, and the other freedoms alotted to us by the US Constitution, our group could have never been formed. In some places, even speaking or writing about a minority alternate system of belief could result in imprisonment or even death. For this, the very right to exist and practice what we believe in, we owe a great debt of thanks to the members of the US Military who defend this freedom against tyranny in all corners of the world. Even when one who once claimed to be one of their own guns down fellow soldiers, this great country still allows the vile killer due process, not out of respect for the person, the act, or the ideology behind it, but out of respect for our own belief in Justice.
To all of those who serve and have served this country: We sincerely thank you. Your heroic deeds do not go overlooked.
